One of the reasons I !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! is so I can mess with it. To start with, I’m getting 19" wheels with summer tires, and putting snow tires on the stock 18s as winter gets closer. I’m also going to lower it, since the stock xDrive suspension has big ugly wheel gap, especially in the front.

My criteria for wheels are 19x8.5" front, 19x9.5" rear, light weight with quality construction, and not too pricey. I found these wheels called the Advanti Catalan at Tire Rack, and I like how they look while meeting my criteria.

I had never heard of Advanti, but I did a little research, and turns out it’s part of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , the distributor of wheel brands like O.Z. and Enkei. Advanti wheels aren’t made by Enkei, but they have a line of flow-formed wheels made with the MAT flow-forming technology !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . These weigh about 22 lbs each in the 19" sizes I want, and in theory should be nice and strong, since the 235/35-19 and 275/30-19 tires I’ll be putting on them aren’t exactly going to provide a lot of impact protection for the wheels.

I couldn’t find pics of the wheels on my car specifically, but I did find the 20" version in similar widths & offsets on a 7-series and an Audi S7. I think they look pretty dang good, and not too tuner-y which I’m trying to avoid. Just need to figure out if Tire Rack can put some BMW logo center caps on them or I can find those elsewhere so they look as OEM-ish as possible.

Those wheels are seriously good looking.

I’m keeping the stock 193m wheels on mine, but putting spacers on tomorrow, 12mm front, 15mm rear. I’ll eventually drop it, but not until next year because the roads in Syracuse kill lowered cars.

The roads here in Madison are kinda rough as well. Better than many other places in the snow belt but that’s not saying much. I’m choosing my wheels, tires and suspension bits with that in mind. I had thought about some cheaper light weight “regular” cast wheels and decided with the rubber band tires it’s probably best to go for something stronger.

Yeah, better safe than sorry. There was a set of KW V1s used on e90post for like $750. You should scoop those up before they dissapear, the X drive suspension stuff is a rarity.

That’s a good deal but I’m not looking to do coilovers. I don’t want to have to dial them in, and I don’t think they’ll stand up to year-round abuse including winter driving as well as replacement shocks and springs. I’m planning on Swift Spec-R linear rate springs, Koni FSD shocks, and shorter bump stops (E36 M3 front + Z4M rear). Plus some other assorted bits. That’ll be its own post later. ;)

This is exactly my opinion when it comes to coilovers. I’d much rather have a set of Koni’s and a matched spring.

I’m looking forward to seeing how that turns out for you. Thats the only viable alternative to the coilovers. The Koni shocks are really nice units.

Well, let’s just say there are still some question marks about this setup I’m trying to get answered on E90post before I pull the trigger. ;) The Koni Sport (a.k.a. Yellow) shocks are a known quantity, the FSD shocks, and Swift springs, I’m trying to get a little more info on.

I’ve not really heard anyone not happy with the FSD shocks. The only real complaint I’ve heard about them is they aren’t great for track work, which is the only reason they aren’t on my ZHP.

I’ve been doing some more reading and it seems like there’s somewhat of a consensus among the E90 folks that FSDs are good with stock springs, OEM sport springs, or Eibach Pro-Kit, but anything more aggressive than that is asking for trouble. So...I’m kinda regrouping my plan a little.

I actually have those wheels on my 135is that I’m about to turn in at the end of its lease, and is being replaced by the xi.
